Danny Croon

Started his professional career working for ICI Polyurethanes. After finalising a post-academic education on environmental sciences at the University of Antwerp, Danny went into the world of European associations. From 1999 to 2002 as Environmental adviser for the European Panel Federation (EPF) and the European Confederation of Woodworking Industries (CEI-Bois) mainly dealing with renewable energy sources related issues and from 2002 to 2008 as Environment and Process Manager at the European Confederation of Pulp and Paper Industries (CEPI). Between 2004 and 2020, among others, Danny dealt with the Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control Directive (IPPC) and its successor the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED), Best Available Techniques Reference Documents (BREFs), Combined Heat and Power (CHP) and the Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals (REACH). Danny joined the European Steel Association (EUROFER -  http://www.eurofer.eu/) back in April 2008 first as REACH Manager and Deputy Environment Director and became EUROFER’s Environment Director in December 2010. Since 2011, Danny has also been working in the field of research and innovation and formally became Director Environment and Research in 2016. Among others, Danny has been involved in the EUROFER low carbon steel roadmaps dated 2013 and 2019, is member of the Clean Steel Partnership Task Force and the Steel Advisory Group under the Research Fund for Coal and Steel.
