Official Opening event: Utrecht - a green and healthy city to live, work and stay in

The city of Utrecht is growing rapidly, as are many other cities in Europe. How can we keep our cities healthy and make sure they are enjoyable places to stay, live and work in for everyone? At the same time, how can we address challenges such as climate change, air pollution and the depletion of natural resources? In Utrecht, we think it is key to stimulate local sustainable, urban initiatives, starting with our streets and neighbourhoods. Supported by knowledge and innovative solutions to achieve global goals, such as the Paris Climate Agreement.

On Monday 21 May 2018, the city council of Utrecht and PBL Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency are jointly organising the start of the EU Green Week in Utrecht.

In a comprehensive festival programme, you will be able to experience working together on a green and sustainable city that is to everyone’s benefit.

Come and explore the city’s nature areas during a green bicycle tour across Utrecht. Join in the debate on the sustainable future of our city, and you will be inspired in a series of workshops, documentaries and presentations on healthy urban living, held at Utrecht’s new Knoop Building and ‘Green House’ restaurant.

How do you see a green and healthy city and what could you do to contribute? Join the conversation about the future of Utrecht. You can find us at various locations throughout the city.
