Exhibition - overview
Together with the Green Week sessions and workshops taking place in Bluepoint conference centre, there will also be an exhibition with around 20 stands displaying interesting projects and ideas from Green Cities, local and regional authorities, green businesses, NGO's European and international bodies, and so on. This exhibition will run during the 3 days of the Green Week Brussels conference (22- 24 May).
Stand 1: European Green Capital and Green Leaf Awards
The title of European Green Capital is awarded every year to a European city for its commitment to environmental, social and economic sustainability. The title of European Green Leaf is awarded every year to recognise and promote the efforts of smaller cities and towns (20,000 up to 100,000 population) towards better environmental management and outcomes.
Stand 2: EASME and LIFE
LIFE is the EU’s financial instrument supporting environmental, nature conservation and climate action projects throughout the EU.
Stand 3: Space meets green - Galileo & EGNOS & Copernicus
The EU Space programmes deliver services that benefit millions of people. Copernicus, the leading provider of earth observation data and Galileo and EGNOS, the EU state of the art global satellite navigation systems, are key enablers of green solutions from space.
Stand 4: World Cleanup Day, 15 September, 2018
World Cleanup Day is a global movement tackling social and environmental problems related to mismanaged waste. On September 15, 2018 we are organizing the biggest civic action in the world, by inviting 150 countries to organize nation-wide cleanups. We are introducing our waste mapping app and other activities connected to the event.
Stand 5: AECOM Acoustics
AECOM’s Environmental business is present across most major European cities. The AECOM acoustic team has a wealth of experience in environmental noise monitoring, assessment and mitigation design on both major infrastructure projects globally as well as smaller industrial, commercial and residential development. Sound demonstration technology is changing how we think about acoustic design and engagement, visit the stand for a demonstration.
Stand 6: Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences
The Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences is a federal scientific institution situated in Brussels. Through its four major missions: research into natural sciences; expertise at the service of the public authorities; Conservation and management of scientific and heritage collections; Dissemination of scientific knowledge in society it is both active as a research organisation with its 150 scientists and as a Museum welcoming more than 300 000 visitors/year.
Stand 7: EU Research and Innovation
Find current and upcoming Horizon 2020 funding opportunities for your city, company or research centre to participate in research and innovation projects related to green cities. Learn about innovative cities, nature-based solutions, green transport, health and food research projects and results. Drop by our stand to chat with speakers and participants. Discover the iCapital Award and other EU actions to promote innovation.
Stand 8: Oppla Community
Welcome to the Oppla Community; a knowledge marketplace for the latest thinking on natural capital, ecosystem services and nature-based solutions. Visit our stand during Green Week to learn about the latest good practice from our partners BiodivERsA, EKLIPSE, GreenInUrbs and ThinkNature… and try our free “Ask Oppla” service.
Stand 9: The Urban Agenda for the EU
The Urban Agenda for the EU seeks to help realise the full potential of the European Union, to achieve smart, sustainable and inclusive growth and; to contribute to the implementation of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Stand 10: ClairCity / iSCAPE / ICARUS - air quality and carbon emissions in cities
iSCAPE, ClairCity and ICARUS are EU Horizon 2020 projects linked by the theme of air pollution in cities. Our work raises awareness of the serious health impacts of air pollution, provides innovative modelling and investigates ways to mitigate and reduce air pollution in urban areas.
Stand 11: EU Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy
The EU Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy brings together thousands of local governments voluntarily committed to implementing EU climate and energy objectives. Launched in 2008 in Europe, the initiative now gathers 7,000+ local and regional authorities across 57 countries committed to reduce their CO2 emissions and to improve their resilience to climate change.
Stand 12: Association of Cities and Regions for sustainable Resource management
ACR+ is an international multi-stakeholder network of cities and regions sharing the aim of promoting a sustainable resource management and accelerating the transition to a circular economy. Through its activities, ACR+ strives to develop the expertise and skills of public authorities in effective waste-product-resource policies and encourage practical action.
Stand 13: The Regional Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Gdansk
The Regional Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Gdańsk, established in 1993, supports environmental protection, social and economic development, and innovation policy in Pomorskie region (PL) in order to achieve better environmental and financial results from the implemented projects. The Fund's activity in promoting regional development includes both, national and local level.
Stand 14: UDITE – EUROPEAN FEDERATION OF CHIEF EXECUTIVES IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT
UDITE is a professional federation that regroups Chief Executives from Local Authorities in 15 member states of the European Union. Our members and their national associations work together on a European level to share experience and best practices around local governance, sustainable development and citizen centric services for the future of the communities we serve. We are delighted to be joined by our partner, Veolia, a key player in the Rockefeller Foundation’s 100 Resilient Cities network who will bring their expertise to our joint stand.
Stand 15: CIVITAS - Cleaner and better transport in cities
CIVITAS is a network of cities for cities dedicated to cleaner, better transport in Europe and beyond. Since it was launched by the European Commission in 2002, the CIVITAS Initiative has tested and implemented over 800 measures and urban transport solutions in more than 80 Living Lab cities Europe-wide.
Stand 16: European Mobility Week
This year’s EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK encourages us to explore the many different options available for getting from A to B, and to think about the mode that best suits our particular journey. By embracing the concept of multimodality and introducing some sustainable transport methods into our journeys, not only can we have a positive impact on the environment, we may just find that we’re fitter and happier, with some extra spending money too. Mix and Move!
Stand 17: EUROCITIES
EUROCITIES is the network of major European cities, with over 140 members across 39 countries, representing more than 130 million people. We work in all areas of interest for cities, from culture to mobility, environment to social affairs, economic development to smart cities. We facilitate learning experiences between cities.
Stand 18: ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability
ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability is a global network of local and regional governments committed to sustainable development. It provides its members with a voice on the European and international stage, a platform to connect with peers and the tools to drive positive environmental, economic and social change.
ICLEI works together with other European networks, the European Commission, the Committee of the Regions, and many other organisations involved in formulating EU policies and strategies.
Stand 19: Municipality of Genoa as partner of FORCE project
Municipality of Genoa is involved in several EU projects; among them FORCE has a very big importance. Municipality of Genoa is one of the four European cities involved in FORCE. FORCE aims to minimise the leakage of materials from the linear economy and work towards a circular economy.
Stand 20: European Business Awards for the Environment
The European Business Awards for the Environment (EBAE) are a European Commission initiative recognising European companies which are at the forefront of eco-innovation and have a respect for the environment at the core of their business principles.
Winners are recognised in the following categories: Management, Product & Services, Process, Developing Country Cooperation and Business & Biodiversity.
