Opening session

Setting the Scene: Challenges and expectations from the implementation of environmental legislation

EU Green Week is built around a simple truth – a law is only useful when it is actually put into practice. With that in mind, delegates will be asking throughout the week how the implementation of environmental laws can be improved. What works, what doesn’t, where are the bottlenecks, and how can they be removed? This opening session will set the scene by looking at implementation from a variety of angles, with stories from national, regional and local authorities, business, and elements of civil society. Delegates will be asking if these successes can be replicated in places where they are needed most?
