Session 2.2

Investments and financing strategies to fill the implementation gap of the EU water legislation

The aim of the session is to present how EU cohesion policy funds and other sources of financing have contributed to the implementation of the EU water legislation and what are the financing strategies to address the identified implementation gaps. The session will focus on presenting and discussing evidence-based results of studies and successful methodologies applied in order to identify the investment needs and the financing strategies:

  • Study on the integration of environmental concerns in the Cohesion Policy funds
  • DG ENV & OECD joint study on investment needs and financing strategies in the water sector

The participants will be invited to comment on the results and methodologies presented and to share their personal experiences on this topic.
