Session 2.3

Bringing nature back through LIFE

In partnership with EASME

Since 1992, the EU LIFE Programme has funded an impressive number of projects that help implement Natura 2000, Europe’s network of protected areas, and improve the conservation status of species and habitats at EU and local levels. This session will showcase some of the best project examples and their conservation successes in terms of cooperation with stakeholders, communicating about nature, and mainstreaming conservation ideas in other policies. It will also outline some of the challenges associated with funding for restoration and conservation work in Europe. The audience will share experiences, propose solutions to overcome obstacles, and help formulate recommendations for greater impact.
