Taking the initiative to disclosure under the EU Non-Financial Reporting Directive - what have we seen so far and next steps?

This webinar considers how companies have taken initiative in the first year of reporting under the EU Non-Financial Reporting Directive and applied environmental legislation to their corporate reporting practices. As a participant, you’ll gain deeper insight into the key findings of the Climate Disclosure Standard Board (CDSB) report ‘First Steps - Corporate climate and environmental disclosure under the EU Non-Financial Reporting Directive (NFRD)’.   The first part of the webinar investigates how companies have reported on environmental matters, including climate under Articles 19(a) and 29(a) the NFRD. The second part discusses how the NFRD is a useful vehicle for implementing the Financial Stability Board’s (FSB) Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) across the EU and areas of alignment and divergence. The timing of the webinar coincides with the expected release of the EU Commissions revised guidelines on non-financial information by June 2019, which will implement the recommendations of the Technical Expert Group’s Report on Climate-related disclosures in accordance with Action 9 of the EU Action Plan on Sustainable Finance.   Outcomes: Participants can (primarily companies, investors and government officials) use this webinar to understand how to take further initiative to integrate corporate climate and environmental disclosures in mainstream reporting. As a result, investors will be able to make more informed and robust capital allocation decisions based on the climate change, natural capital and environmental-related opportunities and risks disclosed by a company.
