An evening to save Lac au Duc from toxic algae
The future of Lac au Duc is passionating. A hundred people participated Friday evening at the public meeting organized on this theme in the village hall Ploërmel. An exceptional attendance that even surprised the organizers.
This lake, like many others in Brittany, but everywhere in France and in the world, faces the problem of the proliferation of cyanobacteria, micro-organisms that pose public health problems.
Concretely, this translates on Lac au Duc by bathing bans that go against what seems to be the destination of this major stretch of water in Brittany: being a place of relaxation and water sports and also an economic asset.
This lake is, along with several other French and UK water bodies, at the heart of a European research program whose aim is to study this phenomenon and find parades.
It is in this context that last year, an experiment was conducted from a treatment with hydrogen peroxide (note: hydrogen peroxide) in a confined bathing area, which has not brought a reliable solution.
