Considering the high need to address the economic, social and environmental challenges in one hand and promote sustainable development on the other, 6 stakeholders joined forces in 2018 to organize the biggest event of sustainable development in Kosovo. This initiative marked the beginning of the event entitled Kosovo Sustainable Development Week (KSDW), which has become an annual event due to its immense success and influence in the public’s opinion.
Through its carefully designed activities, KSDW aims to enhance the public dialogue for sustainable development in Kosovo and the region, encourage the faster implementation of sustainable development framework and reassure coordination amongst the stakeholders in the field. Moreover, it strives to enrich the knowledge and raise the awareness of the general public regarding the latest development of the issues that relate to sustainable development in Kosovo and the region. In 2021, the main theme of KSDW is Green Agenda for the Western Balkan’s which encompasses topics of decarbonization, depollution of air, water, and soil, circular economy, sustainable agriculture and protection of biodiversity.
This year marks the 4th edition of KSDW, which remains to be organized and coordinated by the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure, European Union (EU) Office in Kosovo/EU Special Representative (EUSR), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, Kosovo, Balkan Green Foundation – BGF and Institute for Development Policy – INDEP.
